Cutaway: A cutaway is a shot type where the camera goes from poin1 being a person or place , then to point 2, before going back to point 1.
example shot 1 is of a man staring of into the distance, shot 2 is of what he is staring at, the camera returns to shot 1 looking at the man.
Jump cut: A jump cut is like a straight cut however continuity is not shown, the shots just seem to jump from one place to another. it can be used to show someones frame of mind or the passing of time.
Example: people are waiting around with nothing to do, a jump cut is used and they are all in different places than before, showing that time has passed and that they are bored.
Matched Cut: A matched cut shows movement with another shot being used it is the insertion of another shot of the movement maybe from a different angle to show the movement is still occurring.
example someone is walking down a set of stairs, it cuts to a shot of their feet as they move down the stairs, then cuts to them being at the bottom of the stairs.
